Hobart hotels

The Cascade Brewery site in South Hobart showcases the vintage architecture of the brewery and gives an insight into the history of Tasmania from 1824. Visitors can tour the oldest continuously operating brewery in Australia.

There are three different tours to choose at the Cascade Brewery. The two hour Brewery Tour educates visitors about the brewery and its history, and also shows them the Woodstock gardens. The Heritage Tour lasts one hour and covers the surrounding areas and Cascade museum. There is also the Beer and Food Matching experience at the Visitor Centre restaurant. As well as a range of foods to enjoy, everyone taking part in that tour also receives a personalised beer label. All tours should be booked before your visit.

The Brewery Tour has safety requirements that must be adhered to. Long trousers are compulsory, skirts and shorts are not allowed. Jewellery must be removed before starting the tour. Covered shoes are mandatory. A lot of climbing throughout the building is needed which may be difficult for some tourists.

The Cascade Brewery Visitor's Centre includes a shop, museum, function rooms, cafe and garden. Products made at the Cascade Brewery site are beer, cider and non-alcohol beverages.

People can take the walking track from Hobart's waterfront to Mount Wellington, around halfway along the 12.75km walking track is the Cascade Brewery.
