The old Georgian warehouses that line Salamanca Place, once the haunt of sailors, workmen and whalers, make up what is known today as the cultural hub of Hobart. On your visit to Salamanca Place you’ll find galleries, theatres, cafes, restaurants and craft shops galore!
Home also every Saturday to the famous Salamanca Market. With over 300 stalls selling produce and arts and crafts from all over Tasmania and will be one of the highlights of your visit to Tasmania. Set between beautiful old historic sandstone buildings the open air market attracts thousands both local and visitors to the island, every Saturday.
You will find a plethora of food, art and craft, antiques, books, collectables, bric-a-brac, jewellery, clothing and hand worked glass, just to name a few. World renowned crafts people come to the market to sell and as such you will have the opportunity to meet the designers and creators of the beautiful items on sale.
Come for breakfast, hot baked spuds, beautifully fresh organic vegetables, freshly ground coffee and croissants straight from the bakery. Stroll amongst the hundreds of stalls and you will be sure to take a little part of Tasmania home with you from the huge selection of stylish clothing, ceramics, curios and hand made chocolate, cheeses, pastries and more.

Free park and ride available from the City Centre, Buses depart regularly from the Regatta Grounds - commencing at 8.30am. Drop off and pick up point - Salamanca Market – Castray Esplanade (Metro stop on the Market side). Last bus leaves the Market at 4pm
