Hobart transport

All travel is by bus. Inside the Post Office you will also find the Metro Shop, as the bus information office is called here. It has timetables for all bus services, and certain types of ticket are available too. All local bus services from Hobart leave either from Elizabeth Street directly outside the Post Office or from one of the sides of Franklin Square just across the road.

Hobart buses
City buses are operated by Metro. Good best value is an Off-Peak Day Rover Ticket which is valid for as many journeys as you wish after 9:00 on weekdays, or all day at weekends.

Slightly longer distance services are operated by Hobart Coaches, which company is, in fact, now owned by Metro. Hobart Coaches operates to Kingston and beyond in the south, to Richmond in the east and to New Norfolk in the north. Fares are charged by distance.

Hobart Red Decker
The Red Decker sightseeing bus operates a 90 minute loop with 20 hop on - hop off stops. The starting point is the Tasmanian Travel Centre. (03 6236 9116)
