New Town Bay Golf Club, Hobart
New Town Bay golf course is located just a short distance (6 km) north of Hobart centre, in the riverside suburb of Lutana. The par 64 course features nine holes, is 3975 metres in length and has a practice fairway and a green – the short course is easily walkable. The course is ranked 62 in the Australian course rating and offers an exciting game to the most experienced of golfers. The ninth hole is particularly challenging featuring a 119 metre downhill par three with bunker hazards surrounding the green. Rosny Park Public Golf Course, Hobart
Situated on Hobart’s Eastern Shore, this short, nine hole course has hosted the Australian Public Course Championships. The fairways are lined by native trees, and players can enjoy attractive views over the Derwent River from the course which is on a hill. Golf Equipment is available for hire, as well as golf lessons from the resident Pro. The course is open seven days a week and offers a range of playing times. The nine holes have a good deal of variation with 18 tee positions. The course is par 66 and is 4454 metres in length. The Pro Shop is well stocked with a large selection of golfing equipment. Claremont Golf Club, Hobart, Tasmania
The Claremont Golf Club is an 18 hole par 71 club – metropolitan Hobart’s oldest course which now welcomes visitors as well as members. It is located just 15 km north of Hobart on a point jutting into the Derwent River, offering players spectacular views over the river and Mount Wellington. The fairways use recycled water for their upkeep, there are few inclines and hardly any sand bunkers, which are notoriously difficult to escape from.
